The Talking Points raised in this book were first discussed by Adebayo Lamikanra on the Op-Ed page of the Guardian newspaper in the period between 1993 and 1995. The elapsed period notwithstanding, the reader of this book will immediately recognise the currency of the subjects discussed herein for the simple reason that we are still assailed by the same problems that we were grappling with as a nation in those days.

Description

The Talking Points raised in this book were first discussed by Adebayo Lamikanra on the Op-Ed page of the Guardian newspaper in the period between 1993 and 1995. The elapsed period notwithstanding, the reader of this book will immediately recognise the currency of the subjects discussed herein for the simple reason that we are still assailed by the same problems that we were grappling with as a nation in those days. If anything, those problems have deepened over the years and have now become painfully chronic. It is, however, important to point out that the government in power at that time was a military one, and this book allows us to make an informed comparison between then and now, twenty-seven years after the country’s return to civilian rule.
