Roberto Francavilla is a Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Literature at the University of Genoa (Department of Languages and Cultures, School of Human Sciences). He was a Researcher and Associate Professor at the University of Siena between 1996 and 2011. Previously, he has been developing his work as a Grant Researcher for the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. He holds a degree in Literature and Languages at the University of Genoa and has been teaching at the Italian Culture Institute in Hamburg.

Also a translator, he is teaching the Masters in ‘Translation and Editing of Literary Texts’ at the University of Siena and the PhD in ‘Comparative Literatures’ at the University of Siena. He is the promoter of the Socrates / Erasmus Partnership between the University of Genoa and the Universities of Coimbra and Lisbon (Classica), as well as of the partnership protocol with the Universities of S. Paulo USP e UNESP where he is visiting professor.
